Let's Get Started

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is an itemized receipt used in healthcare, specifically mental health services, which outlines the services provided by your therapist or counselor.  Superbills are particularly useful for clients with insurance plans with out-of-network benefits or those who prefer to pay out-of-pocket and seek reimbursement later.

1. Service Documentation: After each session, your therapist creates a superbill that includes details such as the date of service, the type of service provided, diagnosis codes, and the amount charged.

2. Client Receives Superbill: Your therapist gives you the superbill, either in paper form or electronically.

3. Submit to Insurance: You submit the superbill to your insurance company, either by mail or through their online portal. This process may vary depending on your insurance provider.

4. Reimbursement: Your insurance company processes the superbill and determines the amount they may reimburse based on your policy's out-of-network benefits. They then send the reimbursement directly to you.

5. Payment: You are responsible for paying your therapist directly, regardless of the reimbursement process. The superbill simply helps you get reimbursed for the services you have already paid for.
